God controls the outcome. Any person who claims to have control over the outcome of anything is either engaging in self-delusion or is a bald-faced liar. A lot of would-be tyrants try their best to convince people that it’s only the ends that matter, and that they alone have control over the outcome. And they use displays of ruthless power to demoralize people into believing that the tyrant’s desired ends are inevitable. But the means do matter. They aren’t justified by the ends. The means matter if for no other reason than they matter to God. And in the end, the outcome is God’s domain. He’s the One — the only One who can control the outcome.
