I don’t have a problem with saying “Happy Holidays” referring to the holidays in December, but I’ve never heard so many advertisers go out of their way not to mention Christmas. We have a right to celebrate Christmas and the Jewish people have the right to celebrate Hanukkah. Just mention the specific holiday as well as the umbrella term, holidays. Though, the commercialism of the season isn’t the point of Christmas and Hanukkah, it bears reminding the advertisers that the spiritual meaning behind these celebrations inspired people to give gifts in the first place. And it also bears mentioning the meaning behind Christmas and Hanukkah is God.

Meanwhile, my e-books are free on the Smashwords sale. I’m thinking of making Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere into Book 3. Beginnings is really Book 1. I hadn’t planned on writing the third book, but right now Books 2-4 all go together, and Biosphere is more of a spin-off. But then, I’ll to see how hard it is to change it.

Meanwhile, the content editing (editing round 1 of 3) of Mind Master Chronicles: Butterfly is progressing, but it’s time consuming. I have to make sections I wrote out of order all flow together. Plus, I have to write sections to fill in the gaps. I do five pages at a time. It will take at least three months for it to be ready.

12/5/25 writing update
I added my e-books to the Smashwords sale. It begins on Dec 8. December is going pretty fast. Typing for Contagion Phase 3 is underway as of today. I’m making progress in editing and writing Mind Master Chronicles 5. I am content editing Mind Master Chronicles 4: Butterfly. I’m not even going to guess when it will be finished given my health issues this past year. But at least, with God’s help, I’ve had some productive days. I need to be a bit more disciplined with my writing.

The writing/ typing/ editing/ and proofreading are going well. I’m about a third of the way through the Contagion Phase 2: Beginnings final round of editing. Mind Master Chronicles 4: Butterfly is about a third of the way through typing/proofreading. Then, the three rounds of editing will begin. I’m trying to write a page in Contagion Phase 3 six days a week. It’s almost done and is ready for typing … as is Mind Master Chronicles 5: For the other four books, my goal is writing 3 pages per week.

I’m giving up my GoDaddy site since they’ve integrated AI into it. My domain name will eventually redirect here (WordPress).

I’m participating in the Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale! It lasts the entire month of July. All five of my currently published books will be free. Here is the address: https://www.smashwords.com/shelves/promos/

I’ve added more books to my writing regime, but I’m only doing a page a day of any one book. My priority is getting Biosphere 3 done regularly, but I’m chipping away at four others now. It keeps things interesting, and I don’t want to lose that inspirational feeling. Writing is a discipline like exercise, it becomes easier to establish a routine with it the more you do it. But notice that is easier not easy.

I am almost done with round 2 of 3 of editing of Beginnings. Butterfly typing has been increased to 4 pages a day. I proofread 5 pages a day of the typed pages to catch up on the time I lost.

Physical therapy takes a lot of time. Super Stump and Lefty (left foot) are making a lot of progress with standing. I’m opting for a walker rather than a prosthetic.

When I shelved books at a local library (in the liberal state of Minnesota) years ago, young adult was Sweet Valley High. The content is a lot more mature now. Bookstores have mature content in the children’s section. That’s why I decided to list all my books as adult fiction. I figure no one will know what ya means anymore.

Meanwhile, I’ve gotten back into a routine of writing, editing and typing. So, I’m making progress.

More coming soon!

I will add links for the book as they become available.

All my books are listed as adult now. I had to choose between general audiences and adult for the books on Smashwords, so I decided adult was more appropriate as these books are not for children.

I will be participating in the Smashwords End of Year sale again this year. I will post the dates when I have them.

It’s about time for the Smashwords Store sale, which is starting July 1st and lasts all of July. All my books, including my new one, Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere, will be free.

Meanwhile, the typing up of Contagion Phase 2: Beginnings is underway. And I’ve completed the first round of editing of the Mind Master Chronicles: The Pretender (Book 3). Here is the summary:

The Mind Master emerges from the shadows in order to play a game. Only it’s not the game he sold to his contestants online. No, that was a simple reality TV show, a promotional tool for their futures. In reality, the Mind Master’s game is a battle of wits to the death.

The editing for Mind Master Chronicles: The Pretender is going faster than it did with Biosphere. I had to make a lot more content changes with Biosphere.

I haven’t been writing as much as I’d like. I read an article recently on budgets — how you can focus on the interest rate or on the balance as your primary goal. I’m an interest rate person since it is the most efficient. Still, when you chip away at a lot of things rather than get fewer things done faster, you oftentimes don’t feel like you’re getting anywhere. And that can affect your morale. Still, I’m planning on continuing to try to do two pages a day per book because it keeps the pacing right for a book length story. Trying to add content later if you find the book is too short tends to harm the book. I will just have to dig deep and try to resume my schedule. Yes, I believe in taking breaks on occasion when I hit blocks. Putting too much pressure on yourself just creates anxiety. But you do have to prod yourself from time to time as well in order to keep the momentum going.

Update: Amazon is again offering up to $3.00 per transaction for Prime No-Rush and Amazon Delivery Day Rewards. The amount of Digital Rewards given seems dependent on the quantity of items purchased and what day of the week you purchase the items. It seems you need to buy four items at a time to qualify for the $3.00. The books I write qualify for Digital Rewards, so in theory you can get one of my eBooks if you get the $3.00 maximum reward once.

Tick Tock … What’s The Point of This Clock?

When I was in art school, there was a clock — just a generic one you could hang on the wall. It was low enough that anyone could reach it. I didn’t discover the time was off until I stayed after class to work on an assignment. Then, I headed to my next class. Only I heard the sound of the clock tower ringing while en route. The clock in my last class was five to ten minutes slow. How could this be? The time was then fixed on the clock the next day, and I assumed the problem was over. But, lo and behold, the clock ended up five to ten minutes slow again. The professor suggested that the clock might be winding down. I pointed out that clocks that are winding down don’t keep a consistent time. My theory was that someone was setting the clock backward intentionally, so that they would have extra time to arrive to class without being counted as late. Who cared how it affected the rest of us?

A girl in my class challenged me with the, “Why do you care so much?” argument. She was offended apparently by my desire for rules and structure — as so many people are. I pointed out to her that she had a class right after this one in which she told me had a strict tardiness policy. So, really, it affected her far more than me. But she was more offended by my attitude than by the actions of the person getting her into trouble. Because ironically our release time from class was being determined by the time on this clock that everyone now knew was faulty. The professor also didn’t seem to be bothered by the faulty clock. Once the onetime reset was done, nothing further was attempted to fix the problem. And yet, he still insisted on having us be in class “on time,” or we’d be counted as absent. He also continued to release us from class “on time” — all based on the faulty clock.

What I learned from this experience is that some people really hate rules and standards applied to themselves. And they are more invested in shutting down people who have standards than in their own best interests. Yet, those same people don’t mind insisting that other people be made to live under their rules and standards.

Eventually, I just relied on my watch. I could afford to be released late. If people who couldn’t afford to be released late would rather see my quest for consistency and standards fail than fix the problem, so be it. But really, what is the point of a clock with the wrong time?

Writing Update 7

Tomorrow’s the day! Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere will be released! I have updated the Books Available links page with links to retailers. It will be available in eBook format for $2.99, paperback for $12.99, as well as the Everand subscription service.

If you have Amazon Prime, you can use No-Rush Rewards or Amazon Day Rewards and get Amazon Digital Services credit to buy the Kindle Ebook versions of Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere, Mind Master Chronicles: Puppet on a String, or Break the Leg to Bend the Knee on Amazon.  You can get up to $3.00 per transaction, which would pay for any of these Kindle eBooks. [Update: It appears the Amazon No-Rush Rewards policy has changed. You now get $1.00 Amazon Digital Services credit per transaction.] And of course the Mind Master Chronicles: Labyrinth eBook remains free.

Also, currently buying an eBook for $2.99 gives you 9 Kindle Rewards points per book toward the purchase of other Kindle books. Once Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere becomes available on April 29th, it should also net you 9 points for the eBook. As far as the paperbacks go, you can get 10 pts for Mind Master Chronicles: Labyrinth, 15pts for Mind Master Chronicles: Puppet on a String and 12 pts for Break the Leg to Bend the Knee. Since Contagion Phase 1: Biosphere is still in pre-order, points aren’t listed yet. But the going rate is 3 pts per dollar spent on Kindle eBooks, and 1 pt per dollar spent on paperbacks. 300 points equal $3.00 in Kindle Rewards book credit.

In July, I plan on submitting this book and my other three books to the Smashwords store sale.

I am happy to have completed the book and am hopeful it will be an enjoyable read for any readers out there! Meanwhile, the typing up of Mind Master Chronicles: The Pretender (Book 3) is almost complete and it will then enter the some-days-it-seems-endless editing process. After the typing of Mind Master Chronicles: The Pretender (Book 3) is complete, then the typing will commence on the prequel to Contagion Phase 1, which is aptly entitled Contagion Phase 2: Beginnings. The typing and the editing of the two books will occur simultaneously. Happy reading! And if you like any of my books, feel free to leave a rating! I appreciate it! Thanks!
